Matching Manicures Sunday: Nimbus

Ove nedelje za temu imamo tehniku koju već neko vreme želim da isprobam i drago mi je što je najzad došla na red za usklađene manikire. Ako neko ne zna, nimbus podrazumeva potpuno razređivanje laka acetonom i nanošenje pomoću štapića za uši.

This week's topic is a technique I had wanted to try for some time therefore I am glad that it finally came up for the matching manicures. If somebody doesn't know, nimbus consists of diluting the polish with acetone and applying it with a cotton swab.

Nimbus se radi tako što se na neku podlogi stavi malo laka, štapić za uši natopi acetonom (ili skidačem laka) i izmeša lak dok ne postane redak. Svoj manikir sam uradila malo drugačije. Najpre sam nanela bazu i Essie lak.Na parče folije sam stavila malo belog laka i dosta acetona te izmešala štapićem za uši. Lak treba da bude vodenast. Preporučujem upotrebu palete za tempere umesto folije jer lak neće imati kuda da se razlije. Takođe, ukoliko koristite aceton poželjan je brz rad jer aceton vrlo brzo isparava i dok se okrenete na foliji vam neće ostati skoro ništa. Na paleti je ovaj proces nešto sporiji tako da ona ima još jednu prednost. Namočenim štapićem sam nanosila lak na nokte kao sa tačkalicom. Ponovila sam sve sa sivim i crnim lakom. Na kraju sam nanela sloj nadlaka. 

For the nimbus manicure you put a bit of polish onto some surface, soak the cotton swab with acetone (or polish remover) and you mix the polish until it becomes runny. I did my manicure a bit differently. First I applied base coat and Essie polish. I put some white polish onto a piece of foil, added acetone and mixed with a cotton swab. The polish should be really watery. I recommend using the plastic palette because that way the polish won't diffuse. Also, if you use acetone you should be quick because it evaporates quite quickly and it can be gone within a minute. In the palette this process is a little slower so it is one more advantage of palette. I applied the polish on my nails with the soaked cotton swab just like I would do it with dotting tool. I repeated the process with grey and black polish and I applied the top coat.
