Matching Manicures Sunday: Metallic

Kada smo prošli put imali metalik za temu, nisam se proslavila, odnosno omašila sam skroz. Nisam bila sigurna ni po pitanju današnjeg zadatak jer nemam lakove prave metalik završnice niti nešto posebno od opreme za ukrašavanje, ali sam se setila jedne folije koju sam poručila na Born Pretty Store. No, ni sa njom zapravo nisam kreirala manikir kakav sam očekivala, a u nastavku možete pročitati i zašto. 

When we had the metallic topic last time I didn't create a good manicure at all. I wasn't sure about the today's task either because I don't have any polishes with the real metallic finish or any special nail art equipment but then I remember a nail art foil that I ordered on Born Pretty Store. However, I managed to fail this time, too.

Folija dolazi u plastičnoj kutijici poput šljokica. U vidu je trake dugačke oko 110 cm. Na sajtu nije naznačeno da je potrebna upotreba lepka koji se koristi za prenošenje folija i u principu ni ne treba. Piše samo da lak treba da bude suv ali ne skroz. Najveći problem koji sam imala sa prenošenjem jeste upravo pronalazak koliko tačno treba da lak bude suv. Prvo mi se lak previše osušio pa se folija nikako nije prenosila ili samo u delićima. Onda bi lak bio nedoviljno suv pa bi se folija suviše zalepila i povukla ceo lak... Uglavnom, najbolje je kada je lak tako suv da ostaju dublji otisci prsta, ali da se sam prst ne lepi, a opet da je lak dovoljno vlažan da se folija zalepi. Prilično je zeznuto pronaći pravi trenutak. Mislim da bi još bolje bilo čekati da se lak potpuno osuši pa naneti što je moguće tanji sloj nadlaka i sačekati dok ne prestane da bude jako lepljiv. Na nokat se postavlja mat strana folijei radi lakšeg rada sam je isekla na komade u veličini noktiju. Kada sam uspela da je lepo, bez previše pritiskanja prenesem, folija bila je ista kao i na traci - glatka i sjajna. Međutim, u većini slučajeva bi se usled pritiska pogužvala. Htela sam da čitav nokat prekrijem folijom ali može da se prenosi i u komadima što omogućava da se izvrše popravke.

The foil comes in a little bottle, just like some glitter. It is in the form of a tape that is around 110 cm long. On the website it is not marked if nail foil glue is needed and it indeed is not necessary. All that it says is that the polish should be dry but not completely. The biggest problem I had with the transfer was finding out how dry/wet the polish should be. At first my polish dried too muche so the foil wouldn't transfer at all or only in small parts. Then the polish was too wet and the foil would stick too much and pull the whole polish... All in all, it is the best when the polish is enough dry so that only fingerprints remain when you touch it and you don't stick your finger, but it also should be enough wet so that the foil can get sticked and transferred. Finding the right moment is very tricky. I think it would be even better to wait for the polish to complete dries and then apply as thin as possible layer of top coat, wait until it stops being sticky and then apply the foil. The matte side of the foil is placed onto the nail and for the easier work I cut it into nail sized pieces. Once I managed to transfer it properly it would be just like on the tape - smooth and shiny, but mostly it ended up wrinkled due to the pressure. I wanted to cover my whole nails with the foil but also only some parts can be transfered which is good if you want to cover the missed spots. 

Krajnjim izgledom nisam zadovoljna jer sam umesto ogledalskog metalik efekta dobila nešto što liči na iskorišćenu kuhinjsku foliju, a uz to i nadlak ublažava efekat i utisak je prilično neuredan. Da stvar bude još gora, foto-aparat je istakao svaku manu, a i same slike su ispale loše. :/

I am not satisfied with the final look at all because instead of mirror-like metallic effect I got something that looks much like used up kitchen foil and a big mess. Plus the top coat blurred the effect a bit. To make it even worse, my camera pointed out each single flow and the pictures themselves turned out ugly. :/
